When you make a purchase with your linked card, Forward Change calculates the difference between your purchase amount and the next dollar (or $2 or $3, depending on your tier). These small amounts accumulate in your Forward Change balance. Once your balance reaches $10, we process a single payment — splitting it across the Forward Thinkers in your support split, according to the percentages you set.
You choose whether to forward change to the nearest $1 (default), $2, or $3. All three stay firmly in "spare change" territory — the goal is effortless, not noticeable.
Choose one or more Forward Thinkers from our directory and assign a percentage of your forward changes to each. Percentages must total 100%. Change your split anytime — your next batch will reflect the new allocation.

Forward Change is a platform that rounds up your everyday purchases to the nearest dollar and pools those cents into voluntary gifts to mission-driven Forward Thinkers. Forward Change is not a charity, investment platform, broker-dealer, or financial advisor. Funds transferred through Forward Change are gifts — they are not tax-deductible, do not convey equity or ownership in any company, and carry no expectation of financial return.
You must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of the United States to use Forward Change. By creating an account you confirm that you meet these requirements.
Round-up amounts accumulate throughout the month. When your balance reaches $10.00, it is charged to your linked payment method. If your round-ups do not reach $10.00 in a given month, nothing is charged and the balance carries forward. If you have set a personal monthly minimum, that amount applies instead. Charges that fail are not retried automatically; you will be notified by email.
Forward Change retains a 10% platform fee from each Forward Thinker payout to cover operating costs. The remaining 90% is transferred to Forward Thinkers via Stripe, minus Stripe's standard processing fees. Forward Changers are charged the full round-up amount with no additional fees.
All charges are final. Because funds are disbursed to Forward Thinkers on a monthly cycle, refunds are not available once a charge has been processed. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at williamlackie61@gmail.com within 30 days.
Every Forward Thinker listed on Forward Change has passed Know Your Business (KYB) verification through Stripe, confirming they are a real, legally registered business entity. We do not evaluate the merit, viability, ethics, or management of any Forward Thinker beyond that verification. Forward Changers are solely responsible for their own decisions about which Forward Thinkers to support. Forward Change reserves the right to remove any Forward Thinker from the platform at any time, including for fraud or misrepresentation.
You may close your account at any time via Account Settings. Any pending round-ups at the time of closure will not be charged. Any accumulated balance in your account at the time of closure will be redistributed equally among the Forward Thinkers you were supporting — normal payout thresholds still apply, so no special transfer is triggered. If a Forward Thinker you support leaves the platform, their share of your future round-ups will be redistributed equally among your remaining Forward Thinkers automatically. Forward Change may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Forward Change is provided "as is." We are not liable for the actions, performance, or failure of any Forward Thinker receiving funds. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid in the 30 days preceding the claim.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Erie County, New York.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email. Continued use of Forward Change after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
We collect the minimum data needed to operate the service: your name, email, linked payment method (handled by Plaid and Stripe — we do not store card numbers or bank credentials), transaction data for round-up calculation, and your Forward Thinker split preferences. We do not sell your data to third parties. You may request export or deletion of your data at any time via Account Settings.
This agreement governs the relationship between Forward Change and any Forward Thinker ("Partner") listed on the Forward Change platform. By completing the onboarding process, the Partner agrees to these terms.
Forward Change rounds up Forward Changers' everyday purchases and pools those amounts into voluntary gifts to mission-driven Forward Thinkers. Forward Changers choose which Forward Thinkers to support and what percentage of their round-ups each Forward Thinker receives. Partners receive these funds monthly via Stripe. Funds are gifts — they do not convey any obligation from the Partner to users, and users receive no equity, ownership, or right to returns of any kind.
To be listed on Forward Change, a Forward Thinker must be a legally registered business entity in the United States, in good standing with its state of incorporation, and capable of receiving funds via Stripe. Forward Change does not currently accept nonprofits, charities, or international entities. The Partner represents and warrants that it meets these requirements at the time of onboarding and will notify Forward Change immediately if its status changes.
Forward Change retains a 10% platform fee from each payout. The remaining 90% is transferred to the Partner's Stripe Express account, minus Stripe's standard processing fees (typically 0.25% + $0.25 per payout). Payouts are processed on the first business day of each month for all funds collected in the prior month. Minimum payout threshold is $25.00; amounts below this threshold carry forward to the following month. Partners may not be charged any fee by Forward Change beyond the 10% platform fee described here.
Partners must complete Stripe Express account onboarding to receive payouts. This includes identity verification, business registration details, and a linked bank account. Partners are solely responsible for maintaining their Stripe account in good standing. Forward Change cannot issue payouts to Partners whose Stripe account is suspended, incomplete, or restricted.
The Partner agrees to: (a) accurately represent its business, mission, and intended use of funds on the platform; (b) not use the Forward Change platform to raise funds for any purpose that is illegal, deceptive, or inconsistent with the mission described at the time of onboarding; (c) notify Forward Change within 14 days of any material change to its business, legal status, or mission; (d) not misuse, modify, or misrepresent Forward Change's name, logo, or platform in any external communication.
Forward Change may display the Partner's name, logo, mission statement, and publicly available information on the platform. Forward Change reserves the right to remove any Partner from the platform at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including policy violations, misrepresentation, or inactivity. Removal from the platform will result in the Partner no longer receiving new round-up allocations; any earned payout for the current month will still be disbursed.
Forward Change makes no guarantee regarding the amount of funds a Partner will receive. Payout amounts depend entirely on user activity and allocation choices. Forward Change does not promise any minimum level of support or user engagement.
All funds received through Forward Change are taxable as ordinary business income. The Partner is solely responsible for reporting and paying any applicable federal, state, or local taxes on funds received. Forward Change will issue a Form 1099-K if required by IRS thresholds. Forward Change does not provide tax advice.
Either party may terminate this agreement with 30 days written notice via email. The Partner may request removal from the platform at any time by emailing williamlackie61@gmail.com. Upon termination, no new Forward Changer allocations will be directed to the Partner; any accumulated balance in the Partner's account at the time of termination will be disbursed on the next regular payout date, provided the $25.00 minimum payout threshold is met — otherwise it carries forward until the threshold is reached. Forward Changers who were supporting the departing Partner will have their allocation automatically redistributed equally among their remaining Forward Thinkers.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Erie County, New York.
